Great Barrington, Mass. — Laura Lin Healing Arts has opened its doors in Great Barrington at 4 Castle Street, Suite 10. Lin is a licensed massage therapist, specializing in Thai massage and Reiki, which uses the power of touch to heal, and allows for reflection and transformation. Thai massage is a comprehensive treatment that addresses misalignment in the body and is indicated for conditions such as tension headaches, back pain, and joint stiffness. A Thai session is done clothed on a mat or table, combining rhythmic compression massage and assisted stretching. Reiki, a gentle hands-on energy therapy supports the body’s ability to balance and heal itself. It has been found to be helpful in addressing a wide range of conditions including chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. It also has been known to shorten healing times in pre- and post-operation, and bring relief to cancer patients. Reiki is sometimes effective where other approaches fall short.
As we slow down, pay attention to our breath, and notice how our body feels, we can choose to listen. In the listening we may find our pain is telling us something, with touch it may invoke the memory of a past injury. It may also bring up a thought or emotional pattern that we realize is limiting our ability to be fully engaged and vital in the world. Laura Lin Healing Arts aims to address the whole being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Lin’s sessions are customized to meet each individual’s needs. “Sometimes we need a little help to heal,” Lin said. “And we all need self-care. Yet, beyond that, we also have a desire for transformation to occur in our lives.”
